Baya Balance for 12 - 15 years
Sundays: 17:45 - 19:00
Baya balance for 16 - 18 years
Mondays: 17:45 - 19:00
Baya Balance runs every Monday and Sunday for two different age groups. It is aimed at young people who are struggling with their emotional health this could be defined as anxiety, overthinking, negative thoughts, grief, low confidence, social pressure, school attendance… the list of struggles which impact young people's emotional health is ever growing.
Due to the vulnerability this comes with, there will never be more than 3 balancers in each session.
The sessions are booked in blocks of 6, and each lasts 75 minutes to give time to check in and check out.
Baya Balance is an immersive yet peaceful 6 week programme, where you complete a Be As You Are Balance book to reflect on and continue your practice privately. The yoga practice itself will follow the ethical guidelines of the yamas and niyamas - these provide a framework to follow. Incorporated into the yoga sessions will be techniques such as creative visualisation, journaling and mindfulness practice.
If we are to really benefit from a yoga practice, it has to expand beyond the mat and into life. When this happens, it’s not just our bodies that get balanced, expanded and strengthened, but our minds as well. The aim for Baya Balancers is to not just ‘do’ yoga, but apply it to their lives.
As Balancers you will provide support for one another to achieve just that and help to build a sense of belonging. Please know Baya Balance is about how yoga makes you feel not how you look, your flexibility (it doesn't matter if you can’t touch your toes) or if you’ve never ‘done yoga’ before. You will be completely accepted, better yet encouraged to come and just be as you are.
It is very difficult to try new things, for anyone, never mind if you are battling with your emotional health so don't hesitate to reach out and request to visit the cabin before, meet Fran and then decide. One to one sessions are also an option and we can integrate into a group when/if ready.
*We also offer daytime yoga for young people who are homeschooled or not currently in education, please ask Fran for details.
Whale facts:
Whales provide 50% of the air's oxygen, so thank a whale for every other breath you take., this also means they contribute to the balance of the ecosystem on a huge scale.
Once a female whale gives birth, they will rush their calf up to the ocean surface, so they can take their first breath!
Like all mammals (us included) the inner ear of a whale plays a major role in their physical balance and at the end of the day, they strive for peace and stillness in the ocean, just as we do in our minds.
